About Us

PictureMichael & Alison~art booth at festival in CA.
Dragonflower Energy Arts is the brainchild of Alison Bonham and her beloved late soulmate-husband Michael Indorato (aka artist/musician “Boston Michael”). They merged their shared interests in Healing Arts and Creative Arts to design a company concept that promotes positive energy and mind-body-spirit healing through a unique variety of services, products, and events which focus on natural therapies, expressive arts, and a lifestyle inspired by peace, love, happiness and joy.

The name reflects Alison and Michael’s personal and spiritual collaboration… Dragonflower is a fusion of the words “Dragonfly” (Michael’s personal totem) & “Flower” (Ali’s favorite nature symbol...her prior healing arts practice was Wildflower Wellness).

Alison and Michael began creating and planning their evolving mind-body-spirit business while living in California, and then relocated to the east coast in 2011 to be closer to family, with the intention of launching Dragonflower as they settled into their new home in the Mid-Atlantic. However, when they received shocking news shortly after their relocation that Michael had Stage 4 Liver Cancer as well as Prostate Cancer, they had to shift priorities and put their plans on hiatus to focus on taking care of Michael. Amazingly, the more difficult their challenges became with Michael's cancer journey, the more deeply aware they both became of the supreme power of Divine Unconditional Love. After a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer, with Alison as his devoted Caregiver,  dear Michael developed sudden cancer-related complications that he was not able to recover from just after the Christmas holiday in 2013, and peacefully made his Divine Transition to the non-physical spiritual realm on December 28, 2013 while surrounded by loved ones.

After Michael’s Transition, Alison felt guided by her heart to continue the healing arts work they started together. With Michael’s Spirit as her constant inspiration, she began gradually building Dragonflower. In 2016, after taking much-needed personal time to grieve and focus on her own healing, she re-awakened with newly inspired ideas and activated awareness of her multi-dimensional spiritual gifts. Alison views her new path as a way to be of service to others while fulfilling a dream and Soul purpose for both of them, as well as a means to continue celebrating the music and art that Michael created to be part of their healing arts work.

Alison's Background

Picture

Alison Bonham has been certified as an Usui Reiki Master and a Holistic Stress Management Coach, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education/Exercise Science  with a Dance Specialty, as well as in-depth study in Spiritual Healing. In the past, she also enjoyed studying other types of Energy and Sound Healing, Nutrition, Reflexology,  Aromatherapy, and Massage. As a Healing Arts Practitioner, Alison is an "intuitive energy healing practitioner", which means she integrates Reiki with other energetic balancing techniques based on each person's needs. As an empathic intuitive, Alison has been channeling Reiki for 15 years. She received her primary Usui Reiki training from Allison Romano (aka Dharmadevi) of The Yogananda Institute in Los Angeles (formerly known as Reiki Blessings Academy).
She has a love of creative arts, dance, and music, with an extensive background in performing arts, including operation of her own dance company called Purple Tangerine Dance, along with two decades of experience as an Instructor in Dance, Yoga & Health and Fitness.
Always having an attraction to "cutting edge" developments, Alison was in the first generation of professional Personal Trainers in the USA & earned certifications from the American Council on Exercise and NESTA, and later worked as a certified CRT Thermography Technician in the country’s first dedicated health-testing center for Computerized Regulation Thermography (CRT), at the Thermography Center of Dallas.
Through the launching of her first art website in 2001, Alison met her soulmate Michael and eventually relocated from her hometown of Dallas, TX to California, where they became loving spiritual partners in the journey of Life.
In 2006, they moved from Los Angeles, where Alison was  Managing Director of a popular downtown center for dance, yoga, and healing arts, to the beautiful mountains of central California where she opened her own practice called Wildflower Wellness Arts Studio. However, in 2007 she placed her studio plans on hiatus when her beloved soulmate Michael suffered a life-threatening brain hemorrhage (from a ruptured aneurysm) and she was called into the role of primary Caregiver during his gradual but miraculous recovery.

Life events have shaped her path dramatically in recent years. As Michael was recovering from the effects of the 2007 brain hemorrhage, they began collaborating on healing arts projects. They made plans to continue developing their creative ideas together after relocating to the east coast in 2011 to be closer to family. However, shortly after their cross-country move, they were challenged again when they received shocking news that Michael had Stage 4 Liver Cancer as well as Prostate Cancer. And from that time until his Divine Transition on December 28, 2013, Alison again became devoted Caregiver for her beloved Michael as he courageously and gracefully faced the devastating physical effects of the illness.
In the present, as she continues her own spiritual and emotional healing, Alison finds comfort, inspiration, and peace through developing Dragonflower Energy Arts, which celebrates and honors her special soul connection with her beloved Michael's Spirit, while also helping others to find their own healing and happiness.

How Alison works with clients:

During her healing arts sessions with clients, Alison infuses her abilities as an empathic intuitive to instinctively customize each person's session. These spiritual abilities  allow her to be highly sensitive to other people's energies and many times able to sense what another is feeling or experiencing, a spiritual tool which helps her personalize sessions for each client's present needs. Alison considers herself a "healing catalyst" who sparks other people's own innate abilities to heal themselves and follow their divine path.

Michael's Inspiring Story

Picture
The late Michael Indorato, affectionately known by friends as Boston Michael, was a lifelong artist and musician who by nature was a seeker of Truth and viewed his life as an odyssey of spiritual evolution. Michael's story is one of courage and inspiration.

Michael felt that, even through personal struggles of years past, he was on a journey of learning and healing throughout his life. In recent years, his path has taken dramatic and unexpected turns, producing experiences which greatly challenged his physical body while opening up new pathways for his spiritual and emotional healing.

Michael has a colorful background as a life-long musician and visual artist who grew up in a big family in Revere, MA, a coastal suburb of Boston. He came of age in the dynamic Boston rock scene of the 60's & 70's, and played for many years following in a number of bands, including his own popular band called The Mix, as well as 5 years engineering
sound for the band Sass/West. He is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter who always felt that music came from his Soul and connected him to the Universe
Often referred to as a "renaissance man", because in addition to his artistic passions, Michael also possessed a number of other abilities and spent time working as a Chef, Recovery Counselor, Computer Technician, and in most recent years as a Licensed Building Contractor. Michael felt a yearning to learn and pursued college studies later in life, graduating from college in his forties, with high honors, while also working full-time and recording his first solo music CD entitled "No More Pain".  He developed a love for science and history, and earned two Associate Degrees in Music Theory and Psychology, as well as a Certification in Desktop Publishing.

After spending most of his life in his hometown of Boston, Michael migrated to California for about 12 years, where friends affectionately nicknamed him "Boston Michael". While there he met Alison,
his soulmate and loving companion through the odyssey of life.

In 2007, Michael was very active, having just started his own business as a licensed general contractor, when he collapsed suddenly one evening from a brain hemorrhage. Alison was by his side when it happened and took care of him while they waited for the ambulance to arrive. He was rushed into intensive care where doctors determined the hemorrhage to be caused by a ruptured aneurysm.

In a coma for 5 days, Michael's doctors did not expect him to survive it, however Michael's will to live was amazingly strong and he pulled through it and lived to tell the story. For the next few years, he was in an extended recovery from the brain injury, dealing with a number of long-term after effects and other health complications, but at the same time, so grateful to be alive.

As part of his therapy, Michael began to compose new music and create newly inspired artwork. He felt a calling to create music and art for healing purposes, with the intention of passing on healing energy and love to others through his music and art.

In the Fall of 2011, Michael and his wife Alison felt they were too far away from family and relocated back to the east coast, near Washington DC, so that they could both be closer to family.  They had been collaborating creatively on special projects and looked forward to their new life on the east coast. However, they received shocking news shortly after their relocation.

Michael was again challenged with the devastating medical news that he had Stage 4 Liver Cancer as well as Prostate Cancer. With Alison devoted to caring for him no matter what, he gathered his strength and courage to overcome this new challenge. Michael wanted so much to recover and have more time with his loved ones, see his grand children grow up, and continue his personal work in this life of creating music and art that shares Love and Healing with others. Michael felt that his divine purpose in life was to be a musician and artist, and to share those gifts with others. He frequently described the joy he felt whenever people would share with him how a piece of his music or artwork had affected them in a positive way.   Even through his courageous struggle to overcome Stage 4 Cancer, Michael's music and artwork sustained his Spirit and constantly renewed his hope. He embodied the true meaning of amazing Grace.

Michael was always grateful to have a loving support system of family and friends to help him through his journey of health challenges. And though there would not be a medical cure for his illness, Michael had a passion for Life and tapped into his strong Life Force to stay here in the physical realm as long as he possibly could. He truly transcended the terminal condition of his physical illness by experiencing profound spiritual and emotional healing during his journey.

On December 27, 2013...after a grueling series of customized Cancer surgeries and treatments, and just one week before he and Alison were planning to move from the DC area, where Alison's family had helped them get through his demanding medical challenges, up to Boston so that he could be with his children and family....Michael developed extremely sudden Cancer-related complications when the Cancer metastasized to his brain. On Dec 28, 2013... beloved Artist/Musician "Michael Indorato/Boston Michael" made his transition to the Divine. His Spirit ascended very peacefully while surrounded by loved ones.

Michael showed profound courage, strength, and truly amazing grace during his grueling battle with Cancer. Michael's Spirit lives on through his legacy of Love, Artwork, and Music.

Michael's hope is that people will continue to receive positive healing energy from his Art & Music, and his wish is that people will celebrate his Life...love one another, and celebrate the goodness of Life itself.
